ENID, Okla. — WILL ROGERS’ OWN IDEA

OF TWO NATIONAL MELODIES

BEVERLY HILLS, Cal. — July 27, 1927 — Lots of people don’t know the difference between the two songs of America and England “Columbia, Gem of the Ocean,” and “Rule Britannia, Britannia Rules the Waves.” Here is the difference: “Britannia Rules the Waves,” is a fact; “Columbia, Gem of the Ocean,” is just a song.

Yours,

A Diagnoser of Songs.

WILL ROGERS PROVIDES HIS OWN

NEWS SUMMARY, WITH COMMENT

BEVERLY HILLS, Cal. — July 28, 1927. Here is the world events as they happened in the press yesterday:

President Coolidge attended his daily rodeo, where a team of horses put on a runaway for him, the only new things done at a rodeo in years.

King of Rumania had oatmeal and castoria for breakfast.

Aimee declares the temple is as strong as ever; that the only thing can ruin it is poor collections.

Nick Longworth, in his Los Angeles speech, said he was glad this was a democratic country, but he seemed to be pretty well pleased that Republicans are running it.

Yours,

Will.

WILL ROGERS GIVES ADVICE,

ON REAL NEED IN AVIATION

BEVERLY HILLS, Cal. — July 29, 1927. Lindbergh is doing great work. He is visiting each town one day trying to interest people in aviation. When he gets through it wouldn’t be bad to have him visit Washington for at least a week and try and interest them. Don’t get the idea because three of our planes flew to Europe and made it that we are ahead in aviation. It’s not how far can three men fly, but what have you got for the other hundred and ten million to fly in; and where are they to land when they come down

Yours,

Will.

P. S. — August the second, which is Tuesday, don’t forget the national anniversary celebration of Walter Johnson at Washington, D. C. He is the other Swede that Lindbergh copied in showing the world how to be great and still be modest. Do something to help round out a great sportsman’s career. Remember next Tuesday the only man in America that stayed a hero for twenty years.

WILL ROGERS SENDS COMMENT

ON THREE NEWS EVENTS

HOLLYWOOD, Cal. — July 31, 1927. John Roach Straton should match the winner of the Tunney-Dempsey go against the winner of the Ma McPherson-Aimee McPherson fight, the bout to be staged in Babe Ruth’s tabernacle.

The Prince of Wales landed in Canada. But not until Lindbergh had gotten out of there.

China lost 100,000 people in one quake and could only make one edition of our papers. One robbery could beat that. Yours,

Will Rogers.
