ENID, Okla. —
I have been watching actions of our city dealing with the various projects, the latest being the $50 million park plan.
I read in one article about this being a quality-of-life issue for the townspeople.
I believe it to be more of want over need.
My wife and I have our share of wants, but we do make sure the needs are taken care of first.
Our quality of life is good. We have all the basic needs plus some of our wants.
There are some of these needs, such as the future of our water and city infrastructure, to name two that really concern us.
These are real needs, not just wants. These among other things, are quality of life issues.
It seems there have been too many city hall and friends wants, such as the coliseum, the over-budget Renaissance project, as well as getting into the real estate business, buying the Homeland building, among others.
We have major streets that are in need of major repair, not just patching the cracks and potholes.
Also the water situation is getting very serious, with the possibility of the need to add and/or replace wells, pipelines and such.
I believe the park issue should be shelved for the present time.
Let’s take care of our true needs before any more wants.
