MR. ROGERS SUGGESTS A DEAL TO END FORD’S LATEST CRUSADE
DETROIT, Mich. — Dec. 17, 1926. I am in Detroit in connection with trouble between Henry Ford and Jewish people. Think if every one of them will agree to buy one of those things at Cost plus 10 per cent, trouble will be patched up all around.
Yours for good feeling even among rich people.
WILL ROGERS DOES HIS BIT FOR CHICAGO’S CANAL PROJECT
CHICAGO, Ill. — Dec. 18, 1926. Am here in Chicago on way to California.
Poor Chicago! They are having a pretty tough break. They have a Senator elected that it looks like the poor devil is going to have to stand up during his term and they got them a canal all dug and they can’t find any adjoining country to loan them water to put into it. It’s an awful nice canal. If you hear of anybody that has any water they want to loan them for ityou see they just need enough water to get them to the Mississippi River. That’s all they want.
Five bandits came clear here yesterday but I guess that wouldn’t come under the heading of news.
Yours for water in every canal we build.
WILL ROGERS VISITS KANSAS AND LISTS ITS NOTED MEN
DODGE CITY, Kan. — Dec. 19, 1926. Speeding across Kansas, noted for three Senators: Capper, who holds the rainbow sent up for the farmers; Curtis, who walks in front of the Republican Senators holding out a stick of Coolidge candy, which they never reach, and William Randolph White, home talent critic.
This is Dodge City, which used to be bad till the East made it ashamed of itself. The last murder here was in 1917. The man was fiendishly attacked by an infuriated Ford.
Tomorrow Arizona, if we are not late; if so, New Mexico.
The Rambling Mayor of Beverly Hills.
‘HON. WILL ROGERS,’ HE SIGNS IT, BEING THE MAYOR OF BEVERLY
WINSLOW, Ariz. — Dec. 20, 1926. Los Angeles wants to dam the Colorado River. They are short of water for booster speakers at banquets. Arizona here says: “Get it from your advertisements. You advertise you have everything.”
Beverly Hills don’t ask the world for a thing. We got water, even if we don’t use it, and an after dinner speaker for a Mayor, like New York. Beverly’s Mayor has refused more free meals than Jimmy Walker ever spoke for. Hold ‘em, Doug, till I come.
A moving Mayor of a fast moving town,
Hon. Will Rogers.
