Letter: Watch, pray and work

ENID, Okla. — When a group of people get together for any length of time, the talk inevitably turns to the evil and corruption in this country. Parents killing kids, kids killing parents, kids killing for the thrill of it, drugs, gangs, corruption in public office ... the list goes on forever.

I asked several times what we as citizens could do about all this. The answer has always been “vote.”

Then, a wonderful Sunday school teacher quoted a verse to us from 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and turn from their evil, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

There is our answer people! A promise from God Himself! But, we have to do our part. We have to give up the things we know are against God’s will, live up to the faith we profess, and pray.

Truth will offend some people, but sinners were offended by Jesus. If every Christian would pray daily, we could see miracles.

The end is inevitable, evil and sin will multiply, but God has given us an opportunity and duty to work hard and pray hard to see souls saved and keep others from being lost.

Let us watch, pray and work, or that person that is lost and condemned to hell could be someone you love.
