Enid News & Eagle
ENID, Okla. —
I recently saw a segment on the nightly news with the people of Canton being upset with the draining of the lake so the people of Oklahoma City could have water.
They were not at all put at ease when told this is the agreement agreed to by the Army Corps of Engineers and Oklahoma City years ago.
No water, no people spending money in the area.
Here is a solution. You have a lot of sand beaches. Get the Corps of Engineers to sell a daily pass and a yearly pass for people to ride ATV’s on the sand.
The yearly pass will only be good until the water and fishing activities get back to normal. It is a lot closer than going to the Little Sahara. It will bring camping back to the lake. Gas sales will be up.
Certain safety items would have to be addressed, but with the cooperation of the Corps and local citizens this could help your lake.
