Letter: Help state troopers, DOC employees

Enid News and Eagle

ENID, Okla. — Don’t you find it amazing our governor and Legislature can find literally millions to spend on remodeling the capitol, new offices and other comforts, but they can’t find anything for our state troopers or department of corrections employees?

DOC employees have not had a pay raise in more than seven years! And their budget has been cut by $50 million per year for the last five years. Ten percent less every year from the 2008 level. No decrease in inmates, but an increase.

They also want to cut out NORCE — mainly Mary Fallin. But new office space, for them, is critical!

I worked at James Crabtree Correctional Center in Helena. Those officers and staff are among the finest people I have ever worked with, and your governor and Legislature treats them like dirt!

Now, speak up! Help those people! It is your safety, too!
