ENID, Okla. —
At the time of the November election, I was pleased to have Dr. Vanhooser elected as Ward 6 city commissioner. However, since that time, I have been most disappointed by his stand on several important issues. The PEGASYS one has caused me to write.
I personally feel he was selected as the city commissioner’s representative on the PEGASYS board because he is anti-PEGASYS. It seems to me that the city manager and his council have all been in opposition to PEGASYS.
I disagree with Dr. Vanhooser’s statement that there aren’t a lot of PEGASYS viewers. Many people who are unable to attend church in person are grateful for the ones PEGASYS helps provide. For many, PEGASYS provides their only access to city council and board of education meetings. PEGASYS enables people more access to community events such as Enid High Sports, graduation, parades etc.
I commend Dr. Vanhooser and others who serve, but hope they have no hidden agenda. Is the light PEGASYS shines on the city council too bright for some?
I also question city dollars being spent on many things not for public benefit, but I believe PEGASYS is a public benefit. People I deal with daily see PEGASYS as an important piece of Enid’s quality of life.
