Letter: I hope our government spends income tax money wisely

ENID, Okla. — During President Obama’s first term, he hired 105 new federal employees every day during the first four-year period. These employees are his idea of job creation.

These people are again paid half more than the private sector, get a months vacation, sick leave, lifetime health benefits, days off for any or all holidays. They will be diapered for the rest of their lives.

U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn has learned too many federal employee supervisors are unconcerned whether they show up or not.

U.S. Government is a poor example of what this country should be.

After Obama was told that our embassy in Benghazi was being attacked, he got on Air Force One and flew to Las Vegas for a campaign speech.

We gave Egypt $1.5 billion, plus a few more million dollars, plus 10 F-16 bombers, plus 200 armored tanks.

Today, terrorists detonated the Boston Marathon. I hope our authorities don’t racially profile any Arab types on their search for the perpetrators.

Today is federal income tax due date. I hope our federal government spends at least some of it wisely.

But how could they not love Him enough? He had something to offer all of them. Some He healed, others He forgave, and to all He offered hope and salvation.

Nineteen years ago today — at 9:02 a.m. — an unspeakable act was committed against Oklahomans and this nation, when conspirators led by Timothy McVeigh blew up the Alfred P. Murrah Building in downtown Oklahoma City, killing 168 people — 19 of them children in a building day care center.

  • Smoking in Enid’s public parks may be banned by city

Banning smoking from parks has several upsides. For one, we all know smoking is not good for you, for those who smoke and those who breathe second-hand smoke. Also, smoking causes a litter problem in parks. Cast-aside cigarette butts are not attractive.

  • Because there are so many unopposed incumbents, open seats draw the most activity

The primary election is June 24. If no Democrats filed to run, the winner of that contest will be the next representative. If no candidate receives at least half of the vote, a runoff election with the top two vote-getters will be Aug. 26.

Somebody hates the fact somebody else has more stuff, more land, more resources, than they do, so they go to war.
