Letter: Enid citizens should be proud of Vietnam Memorial

Enid News and Eagle

ENID, Okla. — The citizens of Enid should be very proud of the Vietnam Memorial placed at Woodring Airport. Many people went together and volunteered their time and money to accomplish this.

The wall being placed here will be a tribute for the people who not only lost their lives in the war, but the many that served in it. It was very humbling to see the emotions that were being felt by those veterans in attendance and see how it will touch their lives forever.

It was said that if you touch the wall it will touch you — this is very true. Whether you served in the military or not, the impact of emotion that one feels in just viewing the wall is overwhelming. It is one very small way of showing our appreciation to the veterans of all wars that have fought to keep our country free and still be the strongest country in the world.

I want to thank every single individual involved in this project, and feel that your efforts will make this one of Enid’s most memorable and historic sights. The wall will be open from 6 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. every day of the year, and I encourage everyone to take the time to go visit.
