ENID, Okla. — WILL ROGERS GETS INFORMATION ABOUT THE GREAT NORTHWEST

BROKEN BOW, Neb., April 3, 1927 — Just returning from very successful educational lecture tour of the entire Northwest. No English lecturers had been in there and spoiled the field. They can’t make railroad fare to get that far away.

Not even a politician has insulted their intelligence publicly lately. Politics is dead there. Only thing they are interested in of a foreign nature is Ford’s and Charlie Chaplin’s trials.

They are near enough to Canada that prohibition is not an issue, and far enough away from Washington that they don’t care if Upshaw was President.

Yours for outside information, Will.

CHICAGO’S ELECTION SLOGAN AS MR. ROGERS INTERPRETS IT

HASTINGS, Neb., April 4, 1927. — Everybody is excited over who will win the election in Chicago. The side with the most machine guns will win it.

We send marines to Nicaragua to tell them how to run an election and send missionaries to China. No wonder we are funny to the rest of the world.

The slogan in Chicago is “Shoot ’em before they can vote.”

Yours for law and order?in China, Will Rogers.

MR. ROGERS FEARS WE’LL START DEHORSING OUR CAVALRY NEXT

MANHATTAN, Kan., April 5, 1927. —  Just today visited Fort Riley, our advanced cavalry school. I saw all the cavalry in Europe, but these boys have got it on all of them.

I suppose, though, as soon as we get all our ships sunk at the disarmament conference we will start dehorsing our cavalry.

Yours, Will

P.S. — Everybody sit around the radio this evening to hear casualty reports of killed and wounded at Chicago.

MAYOR ROGERS IS DOUBTFUL OF CHICAGO’S BETTER ELEMENT

DES MOINES, Iowa, April 6, 1927. — Congratulations to the other cowboy mayor, Bill Thompson of Chicago!

They was trying to beat Bill with the better element vote. The trouble with Chicago is there ain’t much better element. Reminds me of the time John W. Davis run on honesty.

There was no shooting in Chicago election day, but it will drop back to normal right away.

Flew here this morning from Fort Riley, Kansas. Brought and escorted by real aviators (wish we had a thousand of them).

This is Iowa, the incubator of Southern California.

Mayor Rogers
