Kudos: Thank you to everyone who helped out with Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

ENID, Okla. — Thank you to everyone who made the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, sponsored by city and rural letter carriers across the country, a huge success here in Enid. We had one of our largest food drives ever, collecting over 6,350 pounds of food that was all donated to our local food bank, Horn of Plenty.

Without the support of the community, we could not have done this. Thank you to each of you that put food out for the carriers to pick up and a special thank you to the carriers who not only delivered the mail, but picked up the food customers had put out. With the high temperatures they were weary by the time they got back, but grateful for all the food.

Jumbo Foods let the community know of our drive with our “Family Circus ad” incorporated in their ad for the week and the Enid News & Eagle printed an article about the drive as well as coming to the Post Office during the food drive and taking pictures.

Once again, the Salvation Army allowed us the use of their truck and a driver. Not only did Addie drive the truck, she got her family to help us with unloading the truck at Horn of Plenty.

Bob and Richard, with Kevin and his wife, as well as a group of young men from Vance AFB, worked tirelessly all afternoon and early evening unloading the carriers vehicles as they came back in from their routes, as well as helping sort foods.

With everyone working together to make this drive a success, hundreds of families in Enid will benefit from the food collected.

Misty Stuart, retired rural carrier

and Horn of Plenty board member, Enid
