ENID, Okla. — Congratulations to Enid’s Commemorative Air Force unit for recently receiving a national award.

The local group, which cares for the World War II-era A-26 Invader named Lady Liberty, was awarded the 2012 Commemorative Air Force Distinguished Unit Citation.

Lady Liberty arrived at Enid Woodring Regional Airport June 23, 2012, relocating from Wiley Post Airport in Oklahoma City

The citation mentioned the ability of the group to move the plane from the Wiley Post hangar to Enid, 80 miles away, when faced with the loss of its Wiley Post Airport hangar.

Thumbs up to a job well done.

Thumbs up to Sooner Success Coalition and donors who raised the money to bring an Imagination Playground to Enid.

Imagination Playground is a mobile block-based play system that transforms children’s minds and bodies through a creative system of play.

Christ United Methodist Church stores the 100-piece set of large molded blocks.

The blocks will be made available to anyone who wants to use them.

We’re sure the Imagination Playground will be put to good use.

Thumbs up to the combined effort to build raised garden beds for Loaves and Fishes NW Oklahoma to grow fresh vegetables.

The volunteer effort was a collaboration of Loaves and Fishes, local Boy Scouts, Enid Rotary Club and Northwest Osteopathic Foundation.

Rotary donated $4,000 to the project, while NWOF gave $5,000.

Then, Makay Tobler took on the work as his Eagle Scout community service project. He gathered a crew of 20 to prepare the ground and build 10 raised beds.

Thumbs down to the conduct of some of our state legislators.

Some late-night work apparently frazzled nerves and led to some shouting and profanity in the House.

Personal remarks during debate forced Senate leaders to call a closed-door executive session for the entire Senate to discuss decorum.

Several lawmakers said this sort of behavior happens every year and is no big thing, but we think it is.

We expect our lawmakers to at least act civil to each other.
