ENID, Okla. — WILL ROGERS COMMENTS ON SOUTHERN PRIMARY DECISION

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — March 8, 1927. See this morning where the Supreme Court says negroes in Texas have the right to vote at Democratic primaries.

Certainly will seem funny to see the negroes and the whites voting the same ticket. First thing you know they will be allowing a white Republican to associate with a white Democrat in the South. It’s before the Supreme Court now.

Yours for quality in politics regardless of quantity and color.

MR. ROGERS HAS A SUGGESTION FOR MR. COOLIDGE’S VACATION

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — March 9, 1927. Everybody out here is all excited about where Mr. Coolidge will spend his vacation.

Put him on a farm with the understanding he has to make his own living off it, and I bet he will give the farmers relief next year. I offer mine for the experiment, and if he makes a go of it he is not a President, he is a magician.

Farmer Bill.

WILL ROGERS INTERPRETS A CALIFORNIA WHISKEY LAW

FRESNO, Calif. — March 10, 1927. California State Legislature passed bill yesterday to make whiskey stills unlawful unless operating under State permit. This makes police permits null and void. The plan is to try and get people to do their drinking under the auspices of the State Government instead of under just anybody.

Will.

P. S. — Certainly want to thank the neighboring village of Los Angeles for turning out in such paying quantities to see a Mayor who is funny purposely, and not unconsciously. Sorry my friends Tom Mix and Doug Fairbanks couldn’t be with us, but they were both running pictures of themselves at their homes and couldn’t leave. I took my own fire and police protection with me. I wouldn’t trust that Los Angeles bunch.

Thanks.

WILL ROGERS IS STIRRED BY OUR STAND ON AIRPLANES

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — March 11, 1927. See by the newspapers this morning Secretary Wilbur says there is no danger from Europe from airplanes. When we nearly lose the next war, as we probably will, we can lay it onto one thing and that will be the jealousy of the army and navy toward aviation.

They have belittled it ever since it started and will keep on doing it till they have something dropped on them from one, and even they will say it wasn’t a success.

WILL ROGERS SAYS DAWES HAS BEEN VINDICATED

OAKLAND, Calif. — March 12, 1927. Everybody is just sitting tight out here in California, waiting till the next term of Congress to get Boulder Dam. They figure that Senators Ashurst and Cameron of Arizona can’t talk during the whole of next session.

It looks like Dawes has been vindicated. He has always said there was a taint of hookworm in the Senate and that it should be administered to.

Say, Dawes is kinder looking up for President. Did you know it? I hear a lot about him in case Coolidge abdicates.

Tell Florida California never looked more beautiful. I am headed for Borah’s range in a few days.

WILL ROGERS GIVES HIS VIEW OF THE CHINESE SITUATION

OAKLAND, Calif. — March 13, 1927. All we ask of the Chinese is that they settle down and let us and England keep on collecting and running their customs for them. I don’t see why they should refuse a little thing like that.

China owes us four million and we take over their custom revenue. France owes us four billion and we are afraid to send them a bill for it. What a great difference in diplomatic relations an army and navy make!

Refereeing from the side lines.
