Vance air show was

a great day for Enid



Congratulations to Vance Air Force Base and all the volunteers who help put on Vance Open House. Thank you for a great air show. It has been years since Vance had an air show and even longer since I had attended one. I had forgotten how exciting they can be.

I was impressed with the display of all the aircraft and there was a little of something for everyone to see or do. They even had small peddle aircraft for the little ones to ride in. The air show was fantastic and impressive and to think all of this was free to the public. WOW!!!

The getting on and off the base, the parking and the ride to and from the flightline was very well organized with hundreds of military and civilian volunteers. It was a great day for our community and a large thanks to the men and women who are serving in our armed forces.

Don’t miss sculptures at Oklahoma City Art Museum



I have taken many students to the Louvre, where the Roman sculptures came from, currently showing at Oklahoma City Art Museum. While at the Louvre there are so many sculptures it takes hours just to walk by them. Oklahoma City Art Museum has a select number with excellent commentaries to help you understand the time and work you are observing. They also have a narration tape you can carry around the museum and turn it on at each work of art.

This is no doubt a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit some of the most exquisite art works ever shown in Oklahoma. I hope you don’t miss it.

Someone fix the black, oily problem at 10th and Willow



Can anyone tell me why there is water under the 10th and Willow underpass 365 days a year? Worse than that, it is black, oily water.

When this splashes on your car, it will not wash off. It is black, smeared oil that needs special cleaner to remove.

When you have to travel that route twice a day, it ruins your car quickly.

Can this not be fixed? It’s not like this is a new problem, but an old continual problem.

High-speed chases are

not necessary anymore



While working in Garfield County a few weeks ago, I was saddened to read a young mother died as a result of an Enid Police Department’s high-speed chase.

I urge the citizens of Enid to contact their city council person and push them to enact ordinances to stop these high-speed chases. These chases not only endanger the lives of our police officers, but also the motor vehicle operator and other citizens on the route of the chase. We all understand the excitement of such chases, but with modern technology, these chases are no longer needed.

Computer databases and modern communication technology allow law enforcement to find alleged law violators in a safe, orderly and timely manner.

It is no longer necessary to judge a minor violation with a death sentence.
