I attended the Town Hall meeting at vo-tech last fall and asked questions about the new proposed trash carts and pick-up.
1. I was told if a person couldn’t handle carts that they would move out and return them.
2. That they would hold all trash or they would provide enough carts to hold it.
3. That they would not look dirty and out of place on streets.
My parents had these carts in the town where they lived and the carts set on the street all the time because they couldn’t handle them and there was trash everywhere.
We have changed the trash pickup with each new city manager and always need new trucks and less employees.
I moved to Enid in 1958 and one of the most important things was keeping the city clean without all the eyesores.
We had two pickups a week and had to go to one to save money and better service.
We have had cans, paper sacks, plastic bags with stickers.
The city decided we needed blue boxes to hold recycling, so they followed trash trucks with trailers to pickup recycling. Then they had to have new trucks with divided dumps to pick up trash and recycling. The city then decided they didn’t have money and manpower, so they told the people to take the recycling to designated drops.
The city wants the people to pay more and get less for the great service they are giving us.
I haven’t any place to store the new cart and it will set in the street all the time, blocking mail and traffic and that cart will not hold all our trash, we have about five 39 gallon bag’s a week, so they will be in front also, with the stinking things. Thanks to the city for keeping the city looking clean!
