June LaDonna Barnes

ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for June LaDonna Barnes, 65, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Westside Church of God in Christ, with Supt. D.L. Norwood officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

June was born Dec. 16, 1947, in Enid to Aubrey and Estelle Rich Swan and passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She grew up in Enid and graduated from Enid High School in 1966. She attended Langston University for two years.

June married Rudolph Barnes Nov. 3, 1975, in San Antonio, Texas.

June worked at the YWCA as the intake supervisor and was the nutritionist at Booker T. Washington Educational Center for the summer program.

She attended Macedonia Church of God in Christ, and for the past 14 years, attended Westside Church of God in Christ. June was very active in the church, both locally and statewide.

June is survived by her children, Angie Christopher of Moore, Okla., Theresa LaDonna Barnes of Enid, Wendy Michelle Barnes of South Korea, Stephanie Angela Barnes of Enid, and Rudolph Sidney Barnes of Enid; a sister, Laura Brooks of Phoenix, Ariz.; and brother, William Swan of Edmond.

She was preceded in death by her son, Rudolph Bryon Barnes; her parents; stepfather, Elder Robert Christopher; and sister, Charlene Driver.

     De was born June 2, 1926, in Medford, the son of George Alexander and Myrtle Biby Hamilton. De graduated from Gore High School. He entered the U.S. Navy on July 3, 1944 and was discharged on June 13, 1946. After De returned to Medford, he and Emma Jean Carrier were married on Sept. 29, 1946, in Nash. De worked as a butcher and retired in 1989. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Medford and was ordained as a Deacon in 1951.

     Pauline was born April 8, 1924, at Butler, in Custer County, Okla., the daughter of Walter and Orla Baird Connolly. She and Loren E. Hopkins were married on Sept. 14, 1952, in Jet and they made their home in Jet, where she continued to live until April 16, 2014. She was a homemaker and caregiver who cared for others many times. Pauline was a member of the First Christian Church in Nash and also was a member of Chisholm Trail Cowboy Church. She was an active member of Jet Industrious Oklahoma Home and Community Education organization.
