Rev. Damon O. Burrows

ENID, Okla. — Funeral service for the Rev. Damon O. Burrows, 71, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, in Minchew Auditorium at Southwestern Christian University, 7210 NW 39th Expressway, Bethany OK 73008, with Chaplin “Colonel” Jerry Jones, U.S. Army Retired presiding.

Burial will follow in Red Hill Cemetery in Hammon, Okla.

The family will receive guests at the Minchew Auditorium at 9 a.m. Saturday, viewing will be available before the service.

Graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. A. David Burrows. Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Navy.

Service is under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born July 2, 1941, in Elk City, Okla., to Oran Thomas and Ila Pearl Blount Burrows and passed on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Wakita Community Health Center.

He graduated from Southwestern Christian University with a B.A. and later received an honorary doctorate.

He was an ordained minister with the International Pentecostal Holiness Church for 45 years.

He served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and also overseas on Midway and Kure Islands.

On Jan. 4, 1964, he married Marilyn Lucille Brown in Spring Valley, Calif.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn of the home; two sons, Damon O. Burrows II of Newport Beach, Calif., and David A. Burrows of Enid; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to Southwestern Christian University in his name, with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.

    Funeral service for Duglas Earl Roach, 68, of Dacoma, will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2014, at Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva, followed by a private interment.
    Duglas Earl of Dacoma, Okla., was born to Vynone (Pullan) and Floyd Roach on August 8, 1945 in Alva, Okla. He passed away on July 19, 2014, in Oklahoma City at the age of 68 years, 10 months and 11 days.
    Duglas attended The Alva School System until he joined the Army on Sept. 11, 1962, later receiving his GED while with USAR Control GP (Reinforcement) USA Admin Center St. Louis, Mo., and Btry A 4th Msl Bn (MH) 7th Arty Bergstrom AFB Texas ARADCOM and was discharged on Sept. 30, 1965.
    On July 3, 1992, he was married to Clara Mathews in Globe, Ariz.

    Mathresa was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Everett and Ruby Meritt and maternal grandparents, Bob and Vivian Yoho.

    Frances “Sis” was born April 29, 1925, to Bruce and Nellie Fauchier Jones in Brownville, Texas, and passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014.
    She grew up in the Harmony community, southwest of Hennessey and attended Victory and Hennessey schools.
    Frances was a member of Harmony Church.

    H. Kenneth “Kenny” Miller, 92, of Welda, Kan., formerly of Garfield County, Okla., died Friday, July 18, 2014.
    Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church in Aliceville, Kan.
    He was born in Garfield County and married Norma Fay Wyman in 1941, in Douglas. They farmed in Covington until 1946. She died in 1989.
    Survivors include a sister, Mary Lou Beopple of Garfield County.

    Rick graduated from Fairview High School as Valedictorian in 1974. After graduation, he attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with honors. Rick was on the honor roll every year he attended OSU. While attending school at OSU, he was involved with the initial planning stages of the Glass Mountain State Park, northwest of Fairview.  He traveled to London, England, often, where he loved to spend time and loved anything to do with plants, gardening and flowers.
