J.B. Ray

ENID — Funeral service for J.B. Ray, 84, will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 15, 2013, at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with Pastor Wade Burleson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, with arrangements by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.

J.B. was born to Joseph and Lilly (McDaniel) Ray on April 26, 1929, in Marietta, Okla., and passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in Enid.

J.B. grew up in Bison.

He married Bernell Browning on March 19, 1949, in Wheeler, Texas. They recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

They made their home in Clinton and moved to Enid in 1966. He owned J.B. Ray Quality Homes of Enid, and was a member of Enid Home Builders Association. He built several beautiful homes in Enid.

J.B. enjoyed their Friday night special friends card parties, fishing, hunting, playing cards and being with family.

He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and Sunday School.

He is survived by his wife, Bernell of the home; children, Margie Dodson and husband Jerry of Enid, Cherri Bamburg of Enid, and Jesse Ray and wife Tammy of Fort Smith; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Donnie Walter; four sisters, Evelyn Tyrrell, Janice Waggoner, Kay Johnson and Gerry McConnel.  

J.B. was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Larry Ray.

Memorials may be made to O.M.R.F., Alzheimer’s division, or Emmanuel Baptist Church.

     De was born June 2, 1926, in Medford, the son of George Alexander and Myrtle Biby Hamilton. De graduated from Gore High School. He entered the U.S. Navy on July 3, 1944 and was discharged on June 13, 1946. After De returned to Medford, he and Emma Jean Carrier were married on Sept. 29, 1946, in Nash. De worked as a butcher and retired in 1989. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Medford and was ordained as a Deacon in 1951.

     Pauline was born April 8, 1924, at Butler, in Custer County, Okla., the daughter of Walter and Orla Baird Connolly. She and Loren E. Hopkins were married on Sept. 14, 1952, in Jet and they made their home in Jet, where she continued to live until April 16, 2014. She was a homemaker and caregiver who cared for others many times. Pauline was a member of the First Christian Church in Nash and also was a member of Chisholm Trail Cowboy Church. She was an active member of Jet Industrious Oklahoma Home and Community Education organization.
