The funeral for Kenneth C. Thiesing, 78, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church. Mark Bersche, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home, Alva.

He was born March 22, 1927, in Walnut, Kan., to Clifford Oral and Mabel Isabell Stelljes Thiesing and died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, in Oklahoma City.

He was a graduate of Walnut High School and served as a cryptographer in Japan with the Army. After his discharge, he attended Wichita State University and Friends University in Wichita.

He married Helen Louise Petermann March 6, 1954, in Alva. He worked as the Allis Chalmers territory manager before he opened Tri-K Equipment in 1963, which he operated until his death.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he served as president and elder. He served on the board of Northwest Small Business Administration, Northwestern Foundation and held offices in Woods County Mineral Owner's Association. He helped found and served as the first president of the Black and Gold Booster Club. He also was awarded the Honorary State Farmer Degree.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Louise, of the home; two sons, Kevin and Kelly Thiesing, both of Alva; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund or Alva Educational Foundation.

A graveside service for Betty Louise Crowley, 71, will be 2 p.m. Monday in Alva Municipal Cemetery. The Rev. Bill Kalfas will officiate. Arrangements are by Marshall Funeral Home, Alva.

    Grace was born Dec. 3, 1946, in Coffeyville, Kan., to George and Juanita Van Winkle and passed away early Sunday, July 6, 2014 in St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. Grace grew up in Enid and attended Enid High School, graduating in 1965.

    The funeral service for Mr. George W. “Bill” Athey, 76, of Enid will be 10 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2014, at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church. The Reverend Dr. Douglas Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park.  Visitation is 5-7 p.m. today at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
    He was born on Oct. 5, 1937, to George W. and Elizabeth E. (Cansler) Athey in Enid, Okla., and passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014.
    Bill Athey was a family man, a visionary and an avid believer in the Enid community. He attended Enid schools and graduated from Enid High School in 1955. He attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his degree in business. He married Linda Gholston in 1963.
    Bill put his degree to use and became the principal owner in two thriving Enid businesses, Security National Bank and Athey Lumber Company. In 1959, he was appointed to the board of directors of the Security National Bank of Enid and began working as a bank teller the following year. In 1979, George W. Athey was named president and CEO of the Security National Bank of Enid. At the time of his death, Bill was the chairman of the Security National Bank board of directors.
