CARRIER — Memorial service for JoAnn Estill, 89-year-old Carrier resident, will be 2 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel.

The Rev. Gordon Epps will officiate. Private burial of cremains will follow at a later date.

JoAnn was born March 22, 1924, in Ringling, Oklahoma, to Pete and Etta (Goode) Pemberton, and died in her home in Carrier May 17, 2013.

She attended Ringling schools and graduated from Ringling High School.

On November 5, 1945, she married Glen W. Estill in Wichita Presbyterian Chapel. The couple made their home on the farm near Carrier.

JoAnn was an active volunteer in many organizations, serving as Sunday school teacher at Carrier Congregational Church and an adult 4-H leader.

She enjoyed membership in Carrier 11 Extension Homemakers Club and judged exhibits in many county and state fairs.

Serving as coordinator and vice president of Kansas-Oklahoma Women’s Conference for the United Church of Christ, JoAnn was a resource speaker and program coordinator for state workshops and retreats.

She was a volunteer for 11 years at St. Mary’s Hospital and served as auxiliary and state president and of Oklahoma Hospital Association Auxiliaries.

JoAnn loved sports and was a loyal fan of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s baseball, basketball, football and track events.

Never one to hold back her opinion, JoAnn always had good advice, and there was no one more competitive.

JoAnn is survived by her sister, Helen Dunn of Loco, OK.; daughter, Glenda Watkins and husband Jerry of Carrier; son, Joe Estill and wife Gwen of Fallbrook, CA.; grandchildren, Clint and Andrea Watkins, Matt and Christie Watkins, Cody and Tammy Watkins, Zac and Penny Wakins and Chesley Watkins.

The delight of her life was her nine great-grandchildren, Peyton, Emma and Isabella JoAnn; Kalen and Aden; Kaidy; and Alice, Ben and Adeline.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn; seven brothers; and one sister. Condolences may be made to the family at
