Peggy Lucille Lemmon

ENID, Okla. — NORTHWOOD, Iowa — Peggy Lucille Lemmon, 66, of Northwood, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Northwood.

A visitation for Peggy will be held from 5-7 p.m. today, Jan. 17, 2013, at Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood, Iowa. Following visitation, cremation will take place and a celebration of her life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at First Christian Church in Carmen, Okla., with Rev. Dorrance Manning officiating, assisted by Rev. Darryl Manning and Rev. Kirk Board.  

Peggy Lucille Lemmon was born Oct. 25, 1946, in Sweetwater, Tenn., the daughter of Hugh “Red” and Rosa Lee (Palmer) Moses.

She attended school in Loma Linda, Calif., and also graduated from a beauty college in Enid, Okla.

She was united in marriage to Johnny Lemmon on July 21, 1979, at First Baptist Church in Carmen, Okla.

Peggy worked in several areas for 20 years at the Carmen Nursing Home in Carmen, Okla.  Peggy also worked as a cosmetologist at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Okla., and also worked at Field Stone Cabinetry, and the Beauty Nook in Northwood, retiring due to ill health.  

Peggy enjoyed playing video games, attending church at Cross Roads Church in Albert Lea, Minn., and going out to eat with her family, but her greatest enjoyment was being with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Northwood Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Johnny Lemmon of Northwood; her children, Ricki (Keith) Knight of Perry, Okla., Tim Perryman of Perry, Okla., Tonya (Clif) Davis of Northwood, and Susan Lemmon of Northwood; her special extended family, Lonnie (Samantha) Davis of Northwood, and Christy Caveny of Dallas, Texas; her grandchildren, Kimberly Perryman, Mitchell (Tulsa) Penner, Linzey Perryman, Tim Davis and special friend Katherine Paggeot, Tyler Davis, Chandler Caveny, Mackenzie Davis, Aaron Davis and Madi Davis; her great-grandchildren, Brantley Penner and Harper Davis; her brother, Jimmy Moses, and sister-in-law Carleen Moses, both of Calif.; sister-in-law, Audrey Rountree; brother-in-law, Dorrance Manning; sister-in-law, Laberta (Bob) Thomas; and a brother-in-law, David (Melva) Lemmon; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and many other extended family members and friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gladys and Mary; brother, Ralph; sister-in-law, Evelyn Manning; brother-in-law, Reuben Rountree; and an infant son, Randy.

    Alvin F. Fortune was born on Feb. 4, 1934, at Dane Township in Major County, Okla., the son of Harry and Mable Warner Fortune, and he breathed his last breath on the sunny bright Saturday of July 26, 2014, in Cherokee.
    Alvin and Janet Fortune were married, and three children were born: Danny, Timmy and Clayton. Alvin married Faith Lovely on Dec. 30, 1978, and this union gave him four more sons: Randy, Ryan, Rory and Cory Lovely.
    Alvin and Faith owned and operated a grocery store and meat processing plant in Jet for 24 years. They still had time for fun things, such as boating, fishing, bike riding and playing card games.
    He lay peaceful and quiet. This is a man and a life that is cherished. Alvin was loved as a husband, father, son, grandpa and friend for 80 years. He lived his life building a family that will carry his memory for generations to come. Faithful and dedicated, he loved the Lord with all his heart. Strong and proud, Alvin worked throughout his life providing for those he loved the most. Gentle and tender, this man adored his children and grandchildren blessing his home. Fun and excited, he challenged the outdoors, fishing and hunting with his boys by his side (and a granddaughter or two.) Caring and devoted, Alvin affectionately loved his wife, Faith.

    He is survived by his dog, Abby, and preceded in death by his dog, Kia, parents, Pam and George Blair of Benton, Kan., John Haaser of Barling, Ark.; sisters, Christina (Mark) Haines of Panama City Beach, Fla., Renae (Juston) Myers of Pittsburg, Okla.; brother, Joey Blair of Enid, Okla., grandparents Margaret Snell of Enid, Okla., Theresa Haaser of Fort Smith, Ark., Morris Mizell of Fort Smith, Ark.; nephews, Nick Haines, Cole and Jaxon Myers, Carter Blair; numerous relatives, close friends and honorary family members.

    The graveside service for Mrs. Margaret E. Bixler, 88, of Owasso, formerly of Enid, will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the Memorial Hill Cemetery, Waynoka. A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. today, July 29, 2014, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
    She was born on Sept. 15, 1925, to Raleigh R. and Margaret Peters Hesler in Avard, Okla., and passed away on July 27, 2014, in Owasso.
    She grew up in the Waynoka, Avard area. She graduated from Waynoka High School in 1945. She married Hiram Eugene Bixler on Nov. 7, 1943. They made Enid their home in the early 1950s. Margaret was a wonderful and caring wife and mother. She was employed as a bookkeeper for S&Q Clothier, Coca-Cola, Midwestern Life and Durheim Appliance. She was a former member of Central Christian Church.
    She is survived by four children, Judy and husband, David Durheim of Little Rock, Ark., Scott and wife, Kathy Bixler of Wichita, Kan., Cindy Ronck of Oklahoma City, and Joni and husband Tim Miller of Owasso; 10 grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; one brother, John and Barbara Hesler of Beaver; and several nieces and nephews.

Daniels, 84, of Enid, will be Wednesday, July 30, 2014, 2 p.m. at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home with the Revs. Jim Edmison and Gary Miller officiating. Interment will follow at the Enid Cemetery under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
    Maurita was born March 17, 1930, in Enid, Okla., the daughter of Vaughn and Mary Belle Inglish McClane, and passed away July 25, 2014, at her residence. She was a graduate of Carrier High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Dale Daniels Sept. 22, 1950, in Enid, Okla. Maurita was employed for several years with Southwestern Bell. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Ladies’ Circle. Her family was the most important thing in her life and she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling with her family, especially to Colorado.
