Rolland was born to Scovell and Nellie Swart February 21, 1922, on the farm near Ames, Oklahoma. He attended Wildwood Country School and graduated from nearby Ames High School in 1939. After attending Enid Business College, he worked for George E. Failing Company.

With the advent of World War II, Rolland joined the Army Air Corps and became a pilot, flying B-17s and B-29s.

On July 2, 1944, Rolland married Naidine Taylor, of Drummond.

After the war, Rolland and Naidine returned to Enid, and he resumed his career at the Failing Company. Over the next three years, they were blessed with three children, Valerie, Gary and Robert.

Rolland joined the 45th Infantry National Guard unit, the “Fighting Thunderbirds,” which were called up to active duty for the Korean War. After the war, Rolland and Naidine moved to Wichita, Kansas, where they both went to work for the Boeing Company. They later moved to the suburb of Derby in February 1954. In Derby, Rolland was very active in Scouting and was awarded Distinguished Service Award by Boy Scouts of America.

Rolland worked at Boeing for 32 years as an electronic technician and technical writer.

A few years after retirement, Rolland and Naidine moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, in April 1992. During their retirement, Rolland and Naidine traveled extensively, including several trips to Europe and South America. Rolland enjoyed gardening and playing golf in Bella Vista for 12 years until they decided to return to Enid in 2004. Rolland and Naidine attended Chisholm Trail Cowboy Church and Cedar Ridge Wesleyan Church.

Rolland is survived by his wife of 68 years, Naidine; and by his children, Valerie Buschbacher of Mulvane, Kansas, and Gary Swart and his wife Suzanne of Portland, Oregon. In addition to his three children, Rolland and Naidine have six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
