Funeral service for Charles DeVerl Paris, 84, of Enid, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.
DeVerl was born in Dacoma, Okla., to Arthur Henry Paris and Mary Katherine Murrow and passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
He attended Red Bird Rural Grade School in Dacoma and graduated from Alva High School.
DeVerl married Beulah Jane Venosdel Nov. 28, 1949, in Alva, where they made their home.
He worked at a grocery store in Alva before he served in the armed forces for two years at Fort Polk, La.
After returning to Alva, he continued to work in the grocery business.
In 1957, he moved with his wife and five children to Colorado Springs, where he began a lifetime career with Safeway stores. His wife died in December 1984.
In June 1986, he married Luana “Lu” Mahealani Kane in Las Vegas, Nev., and he became father to four more children.
Around 1990, DeVerl retired from Safeway and worked various other jobs.
He and Luana moved to Enid in 1996, where he worked for the Enid News & Eagle for 14 years, retiring due to illness.
He enjoyed fishing and camping at various lakes in Oklahoma and Colorado.
He also enjoyed traveling the world with Lu, but his biggest enjoyment in life was his family.
Surviving are his wife, Luana of Enid; sons, Walter “Sonny” Paris and wife Wanda of Conroe, Texas, and Donald Kane of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters, Theresa McClure and husband David of Colorado Springs, Colo., Clara Jean Eisenreich and husband Richard of Colorado Springs, Jackie Lynn Todd and Scott Hotchkiss, both of Colorado Springs, Laura May Talaroc and husband Daniel of Waialua, Hawaii, Betty Mae Leslie and husband Keck of Wichita, Kan., Vickie Ford and husband Billy of Midland, Texas, Janie Paris of Bartlesville, and Deborah Hobdy of Colorado Springs; sister, Bertha Frances Garberich of Enid; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Beulah Jane; infant son and daughter, Dee Verl, four brothers and three sisters.

Mathresa Ann Weaver
Mathresa Ann Weaver, 32, CNA and substitute teacher, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014.
She is survived by her parents, Raymond and Ann Meritt; children, Arick and Allison Weaver; stepchildren, Alec and Austin Weaver; brother, James Meritt, all of Wichita.
Mathresa was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Everett and Ruby Meritt and maternal grandparents, Bob and Vivian Yoho.
No public visitation. A Celebration of Life service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Smith Mortuary, Derby, Kan.
Frances Mae Jones Staggs
Funeral service for Frances Mae Jones Staggs, 89, of Enid, Okla., is 2 p.m. today, July 22, 2014, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Johnny Wray will officiate. Burial will follow at Hennessey Cemetery. Service is under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
Frances “Sis” was born April 29, 1925, to Bruce and Nellie Fauchier Jones in Brownville, Texas, and passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014.
She grew up in the Harmony community, southwest of Hennessey and attended Victory and Hennessey schools.
Frances was a member of Harmony Church.
H. Kenneth 'Kenny' Miller
H. Kenneth “Kenny” Miller, 92, of Welda, Kan., formerly of Garfield County, Okla., died Friday, July 18, 2014.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church in Aliceville, Kan.
He was born in Garfield County and married Norma Fay Wyman in 1941, in Douglas. They farmed in Covington until 1946. She died in 1989.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Lou Beopple of Garfield County.

Memorial service for Rick Allen Parkins, 57, of Fairview, Okla., formerly of Edmond, Okla., will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene, southwest of Fairview, with Terry Schaklaar officiating. Inurnment will be 9 a.m. at Roscoe Cemetery. Arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
Rick graduated from Fairview High School as Valedictorian in 1974. After graduation, he attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with honors. Rick was on the honor roll every year he attended OSU. While attending school at OSU, he was involved with the initial planning stages of the Glass Mountain State Park, northwest of Fairview. He traveled to London, England, often, where he loved to spend time and loved anything to do with plants, gardening and flowers.
