ENID — Ruth Ann Curry Honigsberg, 77, of Enid, OK, died Saturday, March 9, 2013. She passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, in the company of her family.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with burial following at Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Wade Burleson will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. today, March 11, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The casket will be opened until 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and will not be opened at the church.

Ruth Ann was born July 19, 1935 in Ames, OK, to Orville and Thelma Scott Curry. She graduated from Enid High School in 1953.

Her marriage to Berlin C. Marsh Jr. ended in divorce. They had three children. She was employed at Messer-Bowers Insurance from 1969 to 1972. Ruth Ann married Irvin M. Honigsberg at Emmanuel Baptist Church on April 14, 1972. After combining households with Irv’s four children, she became a full-time wife and mother.

Ruth Ann was an active member of Enid Rotary Club, serving on its board from 2009-2012. She was an active sponsor for many years of the Rotary’s team hosting the National Junior College World Series in Enid. Ruth Ann was a member of the Paul Harris Society in Rotary International. Ruth Ann and Irv were active in Rotary International, attending conferences worldwide, and hosting Rotary guests in their home from Japan, India and Brazil. She was an active member of Chapter DB, P.E.O. and RSVP, serving on its board of directors. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church since 1972 and an active member of Lydia’s Class in Sunday school.

Ruth Ann was a strong supporter of the Enid High football team and the Enid High Booster Club. Her decades-long passion for baseball naturally lent her to be an avid spectator at Enid High School, American Legion and Connie Mack games, as well as involvement in the Enid High Homerun Club. However, the Texas Rangers were her favorite team, inducing her to spend several winters in Surprise, AZ, so she could attend a month of daily spring training games.

Ruth Ann’s greatest roles were that of a loving daughter, wife, and mother, encouraging her family’s diverse interests by spending extensive quality time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by her seven children: Michele Cowen of Tulsa, Michael Honigsberg of Enid, Melonee Spurlock and husband Joe of Enid, Lori Bourne and husband Arnold of Durant, OK, Berlinda Marsh Bazzell and husband Paul of Scottsville, KY, Derek Marsh of Washington, D.C., and Barry Marsh of Enid; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stephenson Cancer Center at the University of Oklahoma or Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
