Published 4-8-13

ENID — Funeral service for DeLanne (Latchaw) Roberts Bingham of Enid, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at First Baptist Church, with Rev. Keith Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Enid cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

She was born to the Rev. F.G. and Clara (Dick) Latchaw on May 29, 1928, in Peabody, Kan., and passed away Friday, April 5, 2013, in Enid.

She grew up in Enid from a young age, after her father came to pastor churches in the area. She graduated with the Enid class of 1946.

She and Fred Julian Roberts were married July 27, 1947, at Enid Bible Church, where her father united them in marriage. Fred died March 4, 1996.

DeLanne married Hugh Bingham April 12, 1997, at First Baptist Church. Hugh died June 21, 2012.

DeLanne worked for the city of Enid for over 33 years as secretary in several different departments. Three of the city managers she was secretary for were Gerald Wilkens, Waldo Poore and Tom Sailors.

She then became very involved by volunteering for several organizations. DeLanne volunteered at First Baptist Church, the Railroad Museum and Integris Bass Hospital, where she put in over 10,413 hours and 10 years, most of which she served on the board. She was also a member of Eastern Star and sang in the adult choir at First Baptist Church. In her spare time, she loved to crochet and knit.

DeLanne suffered a heart attack on March 19, 2007, from which she never recovered. She had been a resident of Greenbrier Nursing Home since September 2007. Up until that fateful day in 2007, she had led a very full life and enjoyed each day to its fullest. She had a beautiful smile and never said a mean word about anyone. She was a true lady in every sense of the word.

She is survived by her two daughters, Julia Brintnall and husband Doug of Enid, and Carmelita “Carmie” Russell and husband Mark of Edmond; four grandchildren, Chris Brintnall and wife Lisa of Carrollton, Texas, Graham Russell and wife Laura Semenow of Tulsa, Okla., Roxanne Merchant and husband Brian of Owasso, Okla., and Michaelyn Russell of McKinney, Texas; four great-grandsons, Braylyn Russell, Scott Brintnall, Evan Brintnall, Victor Russell; one great-granddaughter, Cora Merchant; also, DeLanne’s stepdaughter, Mary (Bingham) Green of Edmond, Okla.

She was predeceased by her parents, an older infant sister, and both husbands.

Memorials can be made to the Railroad Museum of Oklahoma or Integris Bass Volunteers with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.
