Albert Streck

HENNESSEY, OK — Mass of Christian Burial for Albert Streck, 81, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Joseph Arledge. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home. There will be a visitation with the family 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Albert was born east of Hennessey on June 5, 1932, to Lee Albert and Catherine Roder Streck and died Saturday, Jan., 4, 2014, at Integris Bass Baptist Pavilion in Enid. Albert married Barbara Melton in Hennessey on July 5, 1957. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany on the Berlin Wall.

Albert owned and operated the Conoco station with his brother Jim for a number of years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, a former member of Hennessey Auxiliary Police Department and a past member of Hennessey Celebration Whisker Club.

He was an avid gardener and Atlanta Braves baseball fan, as well as an avid reader. His joy in life was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Albert is survived by his wife, Barbara of the home; three sons, Tom Streck and wife Christy of Hennessey, Roy Streck and wife Sissi of Kingfisher, Paul Streck and wife Debi of Edmond; two daughters, Patty Ramsey and husband Luke of Dallas/Fort Worth, Alice Haskins and husband LeRoy of Cheyenne, Wyoming; 10 grandchildren, Stacy Schwarz and husband Bryan White, Tyler Streck and wife Frances, Wesley Streck and wife Allison, Brandee Smith and husband Adam, Lexi Streck, Seth Streck, Beau Streck and wife Jessica, Ashlynn Dickinson and husband Taylor, Colton Streck, Riley Streck; three great grandchildren, Gavin Streck, Parker Streck, Harper Streck; two sisters, Margaret Skoda of Waukomis, Pauline and husband Peter Waldburger of Ashville, North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Betty Choate and Sue Smith; one brother-in-law, Troy Melton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Albert was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jim Streck; and three sisters, Lucille Haymaker, Betty DeMeyer and Jo Anne Kelly.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to Friends of the Library, with the funeral home serving as custodian of the fund.

    She is survived by her parents, Raymond and Ann Meritt; children, Arick and Allison Weaver; stepchildren, Alec and Austin Weaver; brother, James Meritt, all of Wichita.
    Mathresa was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Everett and Ruby Meritt and maternal grandparents, Bob and Vivian Yoho.
    No public visitation. A Celebration of Life service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Smith Mortuary, Derby, Kan.

    Funeral service for Frances Mae Jones Staggs, 89, of Enid, Okla., is 2 p.m. today, July 22, 2014, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Johnny Wray will officiate. Burial will follow at Hennessey Cemetery. Service is under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
    Frances “Sis” was born April 29, 1925, to Bruce and Nellie Fauchier Jones in Brownville, Texas, and passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014.
    She grew up in the Harmony community, southwest of Hennessey and attended Victory and Hennessey schools.
    Frances was a member of Harmony Church.

  • H. Kenneth 'Kenny' Miller

    H. Kenneth “Kenny” Miller, 92, of Welda, Kan., formerly of Garfield County, Okla., died Friday, July 18, 2014.
    Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church in Aliceville, Kan.
    He was born in Garfield County and married Norma Fay Wyman in 1941, in Douglas. They farmed in Covington until 1946. She died in 1989.
    Survivors include a sister, Mary Lou Beopple of Garfield County.

Inurnment will be 9 a.m. at Roscoe Cemetery. Arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
    Rick graduated from Fairview High School as Valedictorian in 1974. After graduation, he attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with honors. Rick was on the honor roll every year he attended OSU. While attending school at OSU, he was involved with the initial planning stages of the Glass Mountain State Park, northwest of Fairview.  He traveled to London, England, often, where he loved to spend time and loved anything to do with plants, gardening and flowers.
