ENID, Okla. — Memorial service for Raymond Raleigh Kendall, 79, of Enid, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Christian Church of the Covenant, with Pastor Pat Sutherlin officiating. Military presentation will be by the United States Army. Cremation arrangements are under the kind guidance of Stittsworth Funeral Service.

Raymond was born Dec. 23, 1933, in Grant Center, Iowa, the son of Raleigh Raymond and Bertha Burke Kendall and passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2013, in Enid, Okla.

He was raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa, graduating from Abraham Lincoln High with the class of 1951.

He served his country during the Korean War, with the United States Army.

After his honorable discharge, Raymond started a career with the Union Pacific Railroad, spanning 33 years.

He married Janet Marie Lostroh in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Oct. 13, 1956. Raymond was a loving husband to Janet for 55 years.

Raymond worked for IBM for five years and, after retirement, worked at Vance Air Force Base in the library. He was a member of Christian Church of the Covenant.

Survivors include Raymond’s wife, Janet of the residence; daughter, Patricia Blose and husband Donald of Enid; son, David Kendall and wife Deborah of Council Bluffs, Iowa; grandchildren, Donald Blose III of Enid, Heather Wagner of Enid, Elizabeth Weisser of Bellevue, Neb., and Rachel Kendall of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and great-grandchildren, Kristian, Skylar and Lillian.

Raymond was preceded in passing by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

The family has selected Christian Church of The Covenant as appropriate for memorial donations.
