OKEENE —  Arlo Patzkowsky was born April 2, 1916, west of Isabella, Okla., to Sam Patzkowsky and Amelia Weber Patzkowsky and passed away Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at Okeene Hospital at the age of 95.

Arlo was the eldest of six children. He graduated from Homestead, Okla., High School in 1934, and worked in Fairview as the court clerk and also worked in a grocery store.

In December 1941 he married Marlyss Neufeld. They were married for 67 years.

Arlo served in the Army during WWII, being stationed in North Africa from 1942-1945, where he attained the rank of sergeant.

Returning from the war, Arlo began farming southwest of Okeene. During that time he also  worked at Southard for a brief time.

Arlo was saved and baptized at an early age and was a member of Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church and is now a current member of Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church. In past years he served as a trustee and treasurer of the church.

Arlo served on Okeene School Board for 13 years and was on the Co-op Board and FHA Board. He was a member of American Legion Post 171 in Okeene. He enjoyed attending the Homestead Alumni reunions.

Arlo is survived by his children, Rudy and Verla Patzkowsky and Ted and Jana Schultz, all of Okeene; grandchildren, Bruce, Julie, Abbie and Alec Schultz of Tulsa, Andrea Patzkowsky of Oklahoma City, Brandon Schultz of Okeene, Carissa Patzkowsky of Oklahoma City and Brada, Donny, Miley and Madison Unruh of Okeene; two brothers, Sam Patzkowsky Jr. of Fairview, Okla., and Earl Patzkowsky of Balko, Okla.; and sister,  Eunice Karber of Perryton, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlyss; sister, Lovella Ewald; brother, Marcine Patzkowsky; and his parents.

Funeral service for Arlo will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at First Baptist Church, Okeene, with Rev. Bennet Peters and Bruce Schultz officiating.

Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. Viewing 1-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Arrangements by Wilkinson Mortuary, Okeene.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Okeene Mennonite Brethren Church or Okeene Hospital Foundation.
