Frantz C. Conrad

ENID — Funeral service for Frantz C. Conrad, 90, of Enid, will be 1 p.m. today, April 18, 2013, at Brown-Cummings Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Richard Stevens officiating. Graveside military honors will be conducted by the Silver Talon Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Enid Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

He was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1922, to Frantz Cecil Conrad Sr. and Louise McComb Conrad and passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013, in Enid.

The family moved to Duncan, Okla., until Frantz was seven years old, then settled in Oklahoma City.

After graduating from Classen High School, he attended the Presbyterian Carroll College in Waukesha, Wis., until enlisting in the Army Air Corps.

During World War II, he was with the Ninth Weather Squadron, stationed in British Guiana, where he served as a meteorologist, providing weather information for troop movements.

After his service, he returned to Oklahoma University, completing his undergraduate degree, and was an active member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He then successfully finished his law degree and was admitted to the bar in January 1949, after which he joined the law firm of McKeever, Glasser, McKeever and Conrad.

Frantz married Enid native, Doris Munger, in 1948. Life was a party for them for the next 56 years.

His professional affiliations included Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity and the American Board of Trial Advocates. The Oklahoma Bar Association honored his 50-year membership in 1999, and he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Garfield County Bar Association. He served as a U.S. Magistrate and enjoyed membership in the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry Royal Order of Jesters.

Known for being the perfect gentleman and host, he lived a full and vibrant life, enjoying family and a wide circle of friends.

Always active, he excelled at golf, tennis and enjoyed hunting, frequently hosting attendees of the Grand National Quail Hunt.

He is survived by his daughters, Catherine Conrad Seger of Tulsa, Constance “Connie” X. Conrad of New York City, and Caroline Conrad Karetnikov and husband Dimitri of Plainsboro, N.J.; brother, Charles of Pueblo, Colo; his grandchildren, Paul Karetnikov of Odenton, Md., and Anne Karetnikov of Plainsboro, N.J., also survive him. He will be missed by his extended family, including Naida Sheppard, his nieces, nephews, their children, and Eloise.

Memorials can be given to the Enid SPCA, with Brown-Cummings serving as custodian of the funds.

    Mathresa was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Everett and Ruby Meritt and maternal grandparents, Bob and Vivian Yoho.

    Frances “Sis” was born April 29, 1925, to Bruce and Nellie Fauchier Jones in Brownville, Texas, and passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014.
    She grew up in the Harmony community, southwest of Hennessey and attended Victory and Hennessey schools.
    Frances was a member of Harmony Church.

  • H. Kenneth 'Kenny' Miller

    H. Kenneth “Kenny” Miller, 92, of Welda, Kan., formerly of Garfield County, Okla., died Friday, July 18, 2014.
    Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Church in Aliceville, Kan.
    He was born in Garfield County and married Norma Fay Wyman in 1941, in Douglas. They farmed in Covington until 1946. She died in 1989.
    Survivors include a sister, Mary Lou Beopple of Garfield County.

Inurnment will be 9 a.m. at Roscoe Cemetery. Arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
    Rick graduated from Fairview High School as Valedictorian in 1974. After graduation, he attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with honors. Rick was on the honor roll every year he attended OSU. While attending school at OSU, he was involved with the initial planning stages of the Glass Mountain State Park, northwest of Fairview.  He traveled to London, England, often, where he loved to spend time and loved anything to do with plants, gardening and flowers.
