Wesley J. Sladek

The funeral service for Wesley J. Sladek, 90, of Wichita, Kan., formerly of Medford, will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at Renfrow United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sandy Reeves will officiate. Burial will follow in Richland Cemetery, north of Medford. Military honors will be conducted by the Army. Arrangements are by Hills-Ely Funeral Home, Medford.
He was born July 11, 1918, near Renfrow to Joseph and Christina Chalupnik Sladek and died Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Veterans Transitional Hospital, Wichita.
He graduated from Medford High School in 1935. He served in the Army during World War II in Africa and Italy and was honorably discharged in 1945.
He married Lois Shafer June 2, 1948, in Wakita. They lived and farmed in Grant County until retiring and moving to Wichita in 1998.
Surviving are his wife, Lois; one daughter, Carol Sladek of Wichita; one son, David Sladek of Wichita; one sister, Anna Mae Patton of Caldwell, Kan.; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one sister and one infant brother.
