Funeral service for Roger Lee Bierig, 78, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Okeene United Methodist Church with Rev. George Rowe officiating. Burial will be in Bierig Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Okeene.

Roger was born Sept. 6, 1930, the son of Benjamin and Hannah Kauxhaus Bierig and departed this life on Sunday, June 28, 2009, at Okeene Hospital from a stroke.
He graduated from Okeene High School with the class of 1949. He served in the United States Air Force from 1949 until 1952.
Roger married Fae Marie Proffitt on March 21, 1952. He worked in the oil fields from 1932 to 1960. He was accepted into Oklahom Pipe Fitters Union at Lawton, then worked building a Nuclear Power Plant in Lincoln, Neb., as well as the Atlas Missle Project. He moved to California in 1963 and transferred to the Northern California Pipe Trades Local 342, of Concord, Calif., where he retired from as a 50 year member of good standing. He and Fae moved back to Okeene in 2005. Roger was a 32nd degree Mason, a shriner and a proud Whippet Fan of the Okeene Whippets.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Fae, of 57 years; his son, Ben and wife, Ziara, Dellrose, Tenn.; and his grandson, Justin Mathew Bierig of Pittsburg, Calif., and a granddaughter, Ava Catherine. He will miss Kerry, Owen, Caleb, Catherine and Craig, and the Whippet Team, friends and relatives. He is survived by his brother, Bob Bierig.
Memorials may be made to Okeene Hospital through the funeral home.
