The funeral for Peggy Jean Dunlap, 74, of Alva will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009, at Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva. The Rev. Bill Kalfas will officiate. Burial will be in Wakita Cemetery, Wakita.
She was born Nov. 21, 1934, in Anthony, Kan., to Juanita Maude Guthrie and Gerald Leon Hastings and died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid.
She attended Wakita Schools and graduated with the class of 1952. She received her bachelors degree in library science in 1982. She married David Arlo Kenyon Sr. May 12, 1953, in Wakita. He died Oct. 26, 1962. She moved to Alva and worked at Alva General Hospital as a nurse aide. She married James L. Dunlap May 11, 1972, in Alva. They moved to Cleveland in 1983, where she was the librarian for Conners Correction Institute in Hominy, where she retired, and they moved back to Alva in 2002. She was a member of Alva First Christian Church.
Surviving are her husband, James; two daughters, Connie Buckley of The Lakes of the Ozarks, Mo., and Jacque McBride of Waco, Texas; one son, David Kenyon of Alva; two sisters, Carol Barr of Wichita, Kan., and Connie Drisko of Augusta, Ga.; and 13 grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband, David, she was preceded in death by one daughter.
