The memorial service for Walter Ediger, 85, of Bella Vista, Ark., will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at the Training Center on the campus of Fellow-ship Bible Church, Rogers, Ark. Pastor Mickey Rapier will officiate. Arrangements are by Stockdale Funeral Home, Rogers.
He was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Henderson, Neb., to Frank C. and Martha Ediger and died Friday, June 26, 2009, at Northwest Medical Center, Bella Vista.
He graduated from Hillsboro, Kan., High School. He earned his bachelor of arts degree from Tabor College in Hillsboro and later earned his master of science degree in educational administration from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia, Kan.
He married Wanda Pauls May 27, 1944. He began his teaching career at Berean Academy, then served as an administrator and teacher at Central Christian High School in Hutchinson, Kan., Nebraska Christian High School in Central City, Neb., and Enid’s Oklahoma Bible Academy. He played a key role in the creation of Central Christian High School and Nebraska Christian High School and was instrumental in helping OBA build and move into new facilities in Enid.
He also was on the board of directors of Grace University in Omaha, Neb. He was a frequent consultant to other Christian schools and speaker at Christian education conferences. The Association of Christian Schools International recognized him for his contribution to Christian education and Nebraska Christian High School named him to their Hall of Faith for his work there. He wrote numerous articles and one book, “A Quest for Excellence in Christian Education.”
Surviving are his wife, Wanda; his children, Warren Ediger, Karen Wantoch, Paul Ediger, Christi Braun and Beth Menne; one brother, Frank; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
