The funeral for Warren Edds, 60, of Enid, will be 10 a.m. today, June 25, 2009, at Davis Park Christian Church. The Rev. Alan Seibel will officiate. Burial will be in Enid State School Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.
He was born Aug. 19, 1948, to Thomas R. and Cheryl Edds and died Monday, June 22, 2009, at his home.
He lived at Enid State School until earning independent living status.
In 1986, he became the first volunteer for PEGASYS, Enid’s public access television station, and was a cameraman for 26 years.
He was a member of Davis Park Christian Church and a charter member and first president of Enid Yes We Can Civitan Club, which he named. He was serving as a sergeant at arms and had been nominated for regional director of Civitans for Oklahoma and Arkansas.
He established Chiller Challenge, a Special Olympics fundraiser, and was the 1981 Special Olympian of the Year.
He was a volunteer with Chautauqua in the Park.
Surviving are his father, Thomas Edds of Florida, and one brother, Steve Smith of Broken Arrow.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
