The funeral for Duane Van Dorn, 85, of Pittsburg, Kan., formerly of Woodward will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2008, at Community of Christ Church, Woodward. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Billings Funeral Home, Woodward.
He was born Oct. 31, 1922, to John and Beulah Parsons Van Dorn and died Thursday, May 15, 2008, in Pittsburg, Kan.
He attended school in Harper County. He married Esther Harrison Aug. 12, 1941. They made their home north of Woodward and moved to Woodward in 1954. She died in 2000. He moved to Pittsburg three years ago. He was ordained into the priesthood at Community of Christ Church.
Surviving are two children, Patsy Lawson of Pittsburg and Dr. B. D. “Buck” Van Dorn of Oklahoma City; one brother, Dwight Van Dorn; one sister, LoElla Blair; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren
