The funeral for Frieda Wilhelmine Wiersig, 105, of Alva, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Alva Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Bersche will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Alva.
She was born Oct. 29, 1902, near Lincoln, Neb., to Lena Detmer and Benjamin Meier, and died May 9, 2008 in Alva.
She attended Elkhorn Township school and the Lutheran school near Lincoln. The family moved to Broken Arrow in 1920. She married G.H. Wiersig Aug. 21, 1927, in Broken Arrow. He died Nov. 25, 1975.
Surviving are one son, Virgil Wiersig of Alva; one daughter, Arlene Thies of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
In addition to her husband, G.H. Wiersig, she was preceded in death by one son, one sister and three brothers.
