Enid, OK — The funeral for Fred Kime, 78, of Garber, will be 2 p.m. today, May 6, 2008, at First Baptist Church of Garber. Pastor Tom LeGrand will officiate. Burial will be in Garber Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dugger Funeral Home, Garber. Family visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

He was born Sept. 28, 1929, in Seminole to William and Elizabeth Greenfield Kime and died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, Enid.

He graduated from Seminole High School in 1947. He served in the Navy from 1948 to 1952, stationed in San Diego. In the Korean War, he was a fire controlman, 2nd class gunnery division aboard the destroyer USS Rupertus. He received the Navy Occupation Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and United Nations Service Medal.

He married Fredys Ann Lippel Oct. 19, 1957, in Vinita. He graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1957 with a degree in chemistry. He worked as a chemist for Mobile Oil Co. for three years in Augusta, Kan. He then earned his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Oklahoma in 1963. He worked as a pharmacist in Norman, Gilmer, Texas, and El Reno until 1971. In 1971, they purchased Garber Drug until he retired in 1995. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Garber, Garber Chamber of Commerce, Oklahoma Pharmaceutical Association and USS Rupertus Association.

Surviving are his wife, Fredys, of the home; two daughters, Paula of Ponca City and Diane Waggoner of Billings; two sisters, Lillian Hall of Mustang and Doris Hudson of Moore; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and son, two brothers and five sisters.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home, P.O. Box 66, Garber, OK 73738, to First Baptist Church, American Diabetes Association or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, stroke unit.
