A memorial service for Eugene T. Eckenrode, 70, will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, at Henninger-Allen Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Vernon Lee will officiate.
He was born March 25, 1938, in Spangler, Pa., to Isadore and Grace Eckenrode and died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at his home.
He graduated from high school in Pennsylvania. He entered the Air Force and served during the Vietnam War, retiring as a tech sergeant. He then moved to Enid and worked at Vance Air Force Base.
He was a member of Moose Lodge, Vietnam Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Surviving are two daughters, Lynn Beames of Meridian, Idaho, and Tammy Hoover of Md.; one son, Reed Eckenrode; four sisters, Mary Grace Bolette of Northern Cambria, Pa., Janet Hahn of Wakefield, Kan., Lucy Brooks of Naperville, Ill., and Theresa Albers of Yucca, Ariz.; two brothers, Patrick Eckenrode of Mineral Point, Pa., and Clinton Eckenrode of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers.
