Church youth give away snow cones

ENID, Okla. — A group of young people set up a snow cone giveaway at Meadowlake Park in Enid on Sunday.

Enid Seventh-day Adventist Church deacon Jordan Fender said he set up the giveaway to get the youth at the church involved with the city and the church.

“At the same way that it’s an in-reach, we’re wanting it to be an outreach as well,” he said. “We’re just giving them away free. God’s grace is free and so is this.”

Prior to Sunday, the youth handed out approximately 600 fliers advertising the giveaway and spent between 10 and 15 hours preparing for the event, Fender said.

“We’re hoping, as long as there’s a decent turnout, we’ll be doing it again sometime this summer,” he said.

According to Fender, there were six youths involved in the outreach, along with some other church members.

The church funded the outreach and the youth took up some offerings, during services, to fund the event, he said.
