Power back on for most, but not all

ENID, Okla. — The majority of Enid’s OG&E Electric Services customers had their power restored by Tuesday night, but some still are waiting for power in the wake of Monday night’s blizzard.

As of 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, OG&E district manager John Little said crews had restored power to all but 30 percent of Enid customers, and crews were working to restore more before nightfall.

“Things are improving, and we still are planning on having the bulk of the customers on by nightfall, but unfortunately, there will be some customers who carry over to tomorrow,” Little said Tuesday evening.

Little said OG&E plans to have all the remaining Enid customers back online by this evening.

Customers in rural areas may have to wait longer for their power to be restored due to impassable conditions, Little said. He said some rural areas surrounding Enid may be without power until Thursday.

As of 6:15 p.m. OG&E System Watch reported 7,422 customers in Enid without power.

Other area towns were: Alva, 172; Bison, 88; Canton, 492; Carrier, 101; Cleo Springs, 297; Covington, 50; Deer Creek, 622; Douglas, 433; Dover, 120; Drummond, 363; Garber, 189; Hennessey, 319; Hopeton, 387; Imo, 88; Jet, 180; Kremlin, 299; Lacey, 53; Lahoma, 201; Loyal, 179; Lucien, 113; Medford, 1,204; Meno, 859; Ringwood, 332; Seiling, 595; Watonga, 155; and Waukomis, 398.

Outage levels in Enid reached a high as 90 percent before OG&E crews were able to start making progress in restoring power yesterday morning.

Systemwide, about two-thirds of the outages were in the Enid-area, Little said. There were more than 20,000 customers in Enid without power at the outage’s height, which is about 90 percent of the city. Most of those were back on by about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

At one point, most of Enid’s 13 substations were offline early Tuesday. Most of those had been restored by Tuesday afternoon.
