MAPC OK’s storage building

ENID, Okla. — Forgotten Ministries can build a metal storage building near the New View Apartments to aid in their renovation efforts there, a city panel agreed Monday.

The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission gave unanimous approval to three requests from the ministry — all relating to its plan to construct the building behind the apartment complex in the 1700 block of Leona Mitchell.

As part of their church efforts, Forgotten Ministries plans to entice local groups and businesses to help in their goal to renovate each unit in the complex. Their ministry is aimed at providing assistance to the low income tenants who live there.

MAPC voted to rezone the property for commercial use by review, contingent on either the ministry installing a sprinkler system or the city improving the water pressure to hydrants in the area.

The commission also considered a request to approve an amendment to the Thousand Oaks Second Section covenant, but City Planner Chris Bauer said that the MAPC should instead declare that the covenant changes do not conflict with county regulations.

“I have explained to the attorney who submitted the items to me that this body has no jurisdiction over private covenants,” Bauer said.

The declaration was unanimously approved. The covenant is being amended to prohibit the discharge of a firearm in most instances and to remove the obsolete section requiring MAPC approval of covenant amendments.

MAPC then approved splitting .55 acres off a lot on south Hoover where the location of Fire Station No. 4 is planned.

A lot split for land along 30th Street north of Chestnut also was granted so that Magellan Pipeline Company can add 3.38 acres to its truck loading facility.

Commissioners then OK’d the split of a lot at 1131 E. Broadway, which contains a convenience store. The split allows the separation of the convenience store from an adjacent liquor store. Another lot split, a 20-foot strip of land at 4218 N. 4th, was approved.
