Singing Churchmen to perform in concert

— The Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma are coming to First Baptist Church in Ponca City. This 200-voice choir is a representation of Oklahoma Southern Baptist Churches’ finest male vocalists, comprised of full-time, part-time, BI-vocational and volunteer ministers of music from across the state. The group will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at First Baptist Worship Center, 5th and Central in downtown Ponca City.

Randy Lind directs the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma, which has presented concerts throughout the United States and abroad, including The Gaither Praise Gatherings in Cincinnati and Indianapolis; Medallion Concert Series in Minneapolis; PraiSing I and II in Nashville; and the Baptist World Alliance in Tokyo.

The choir has participated in several mission endeavors, including Spain; Latvia; Estonia and Russia in 1993; and China in 1996, visiting Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Hong Kong and much more.

The group has produced several recordings during its 45-year history, with the most recent recording, “Live from Sydney,” released in May 2003.

The concert is free and open to the public. A freewill offering will be taken.
