Republican Frank Lucas wins 11th term in US House

CHEYENNE, Okla. — Oklahoma Republican Frank Lucas has been elected to an 11th term in the U.S. House.

The 52-year-old Lucas will represent the 3rd Congressional District, keeping the seat in GOP hands once again. He defeated Democrat Timothy Ray Murray of Moore and independent William Matthew Sanders of Stillwater.

Lucas is chairman of the House Agriculture Committee and says getting a farm bill passed is one of his top priorities. He says Congress may call a session before the end of the year and that he could get a hearing on the bill during that time.

He says he’ll oppose any proposed tax increase and will work to overturn the federal health care law.

Lucas was first elected in 1994 to what was then the 6th Congressional District.
