ENID, Okla. —
Alcohol was a contributing factor in a 59-year-old Ponca City man’s motorcycle wreck early Thursday morning west of Fairview.
Paul Cameron Hammons was transported by ambulance to Fairview Hospital and then flown to OU Medical in Oklahoma City following the 5:15 a.m. crash, about 14 miles west of Fairview on U.S. 60, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report. Hammons was listed in critical but stable condition with head, body, arm and leg injuries.
Hammons was eastbound on U.S. 60 riding a 2003 Harley Davidson when he departed the road to the right, re-entered the road in a broadslide, departed the road to the left and then came to rest.
The report lists the condition of the driver as “odor of alcoholic beverage” and the cause of the collision as “improper use of lane.” The report also states Hammons was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
