WOODWARD, Okla. — More than a month ago, 18-year-old Kolby Bowers went to a party north of Fargo with some friends from work. He died there.

There still are many questions swirling around the circumstances of Bowers’ death, and his mother Tracy Stine wants some answers.

Stine is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible for an alleged assault on her son the evening of July 27.

The investigation into Bowers’ death continues, said Jessica Brown, Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation public information officer.

“I can guarantee you that we will do everything we can do within the confines of the law to investigate this,” Brown said.

The cause of Bowers’ death is pending, said Eddie Johnson, of the Oklahoma Medical Examiners Office.

Johnson said while the toxicology results are complete, those have to be included with other findings in the physical autopsy and analyzed by the doctor before a cause of death can be determined.

Stine said there were many at the party who described Bowers’ condition when he was found unresponsive in the grass as being the victim of a beating. She said she many people at the party heard comments made by an individual they say could have attacked Bowers.

Stine is somewhat frustrated with what she feels is an investigation that has been slow to get on its feet.

“I am working on this, talking to these kids that were at the party and a lot of them, the OSBI has not interviewed yet,” she said.

However, Stine said she is aware there is much about the investigation OSBI agents are unable to share with her, because of its status as open investigation.

Stine is right, Brown said.

“I would assume that she feels that way, because we can’t give her much information about what we have done,” Brown said.

Stine is sharing as much information as she can get with investigators, and wants to be a conduit of information.

“That is why I posted the reward,” she said. “This is my son, and until we find the truth, this investigation will never be over.”

To report information, call Stine at (580) 334-1909 or OSBI at (580) 256-1771.
