Where's the boom? EPD searches for sound's origin

ENID, Okla. — The Enid Fire Department was called to investigate the sound of booms east of the city Tuesday night, but they could not find the source.

A report came into dispatchers at 7:12 p.m. that there were several “booms” in the vicinity of 54th and Market. As fire crews rushed to the scene, they could not locate the presence of smoke or any other indication of an emergency.

According to the EFD, firefighters drove several miles around the area talking to residents and businesses, including the Koch Nitrogen plant. Some said they heard the noise but could not pinpoint where it came from.

After searching for the source of the explosion-like sounds for half an hour, the fire department units returned to the station.
