ENID, Okla. —
Friends of the Library will hold its semiannual book sale Sept. 25-29 at Public Library of Enid and Garfield County.
Margo Holmes, circulation director of the library, said Friends of the Library is an advocacy group for the library and has raised money to assist with library needs. Twice a year, the group sponsors a book sale.
Sept. 25 is a members-only sale 5-8 p.m. Hours the other days are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 26, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 27 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 28. Patrons on Sept. 28 may fill a bag with books for $2. Memberships are $10 per year.
Since January 2008, Friends of the Library has donated more than $19,000 to the library for purchase of books, supplies, browsing baskets, holiday lighting, promotional items, programs, performers, a globe, carpeting, furnishings and homebound bags.
Extra tables are set up in the Friends of the Library section on sale days, featuring boxes of books for sale. All of the books will be turned with the spine out so shoppers can see what books are for sale. Paperbacks are 50 cents, hardbacks $1. Children’s and teen books will be on sale for 25 cents to 50 cents, Holmes said.
“We’re a core group and we need people who are passionate about the library and the accessibility of material,” Holmes said.
