United Way golf tourney June 13

ENID, Okla. — Participants at this year’s United Way golf tournament, sponsored by Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, have a chance to win prizes, show off their skills, have fun and support programs that make a difference in the community.

A new component to the tournament, set for June 13, is the opportunity to contribute to the Ronna Richards Memorial Fund, with proceeds benefiting women’s health initiatives. Participants can donate during the registration process and at a special event the day of the tournament.

“This is the first time in 15 years Ronna has not been part of our annual tournament. Her passion for United Way and love of this tournament is felt by all who knew her,” Pamela Ballard, executive director of United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma, said.

Richards’ husband, Glenn, is serving as this year’s honorary chairman.

“We have an incredibly generous community,” said Ballard. “I don’t think people play in our tournament because of the prizes; they play because it’s an enjoyable day and they know they are helping impact our community through health, education, and income initiatives that every day make a positive difference in hundreds of lives.

“In 2013 alone, almost half a million acts of service were performed by our United Way partners. Every person who contributes can take pride in knowing their United Way dollars touched so many people,” Ballard said.

The annual United Way of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma golf tournament, is in its 27th year. Bob and Sherry Adamson are serving as co-chairs for the event, with dinner being provided by Raymie’s. The tournament raises approximately $14,000 each year for United Way’s 16 member agencies.

The tournament will take place at Meadlowlake Golf Course. Entry for a team of 4 is $380, which includes a company sign on the golf course and the company’s name listed in the brochure. Individuals may play for $75 each. Space is limited to the first 100 players. Anyone wanting to participate should contact United Way at 237-0821.
