GCSO seeks help in I.D. of woman suspected in theft

ENID, Okla. — Garfield County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying a woman suspected of stealing scrap metal.

Sheriff Jerry Niles said the photo of the woman is from a theft reported in mid-February that occurred on private land in the 7500 block of West Osborne.

“We believe she and other individuals are involved in a multitude of trespassings and thefts of scrap metals from private property and businesses,” Nile said.

The sheriff said his office has been “aggressively” investigating a recent rash of thefts, making six arrests several weeks ago. He said those collecting scrap need to have a signed contract with the property owner.

“Follow the rule: If it’s not yours, leave it alone,” Niles said.

Anyone having information that will lead to the arrest or prosecution of the suspect in these crimes, or any other, is urged to call Garfield County Crime Stoppers at (580) 233-6233. Callers may remain anonymous and will not be required to testify.

Those with information also may contact the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office at (580) 237-0244.

You also can text a tip from a cell phone by texting CRIMES (274637). Be sure to type “Enid” in the subject field. Tips also can be submitted via the Internet by going to www.tipsoft.com.

Tipsters can earn a reward up to $1,000 and will not be required to testify or be identified.
