Covington Lions Club will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday at Covington City Park. The hunt will be divided into four different age categories: ages 1-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. Five eggs in each category will contain a $1 bill. Don’t be late, as the hunt starts on time.
The club also will hold a bake sale 8 a.m. Saturday at Covington General Store for White Cane Day.
Marshall Fire Department will host its annual All-You-Can-Eat Smoked Rib Supper 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the Marshall Alumni Building on Main Street in Marshall. Cost for adults is $9 in advance or $10 at the door; for children age 6-12, cost is $4 in advance or $5 at the door. Children 5 and under will be admitted free. On Monday, the junior high and high school Wildcat baseball teams will host Waukomis at 4:30 p.m. Covington-Douglas will host the junior high Covington-Douglas Track Invitational Tournament on the home track.
On Tuesday, the Lady Cats softball team will host Glenco and Garber at 4:30 p.m. The high school baseball team will host Medford at 4:30 p.m. The junior high softball teams will travel to Mullhall-Orlando, with games starting at 4 p.m.
On Wednesday, fifth- and sixth-grade Covington-Douglas Track Invitational will be held at Covington-Douglas.
From Thursday to Saturday, the high school baseball Pioneer Invitational Tournament will be held at Pioneer with the Covington-Douglas baseball team participating. The Lady Cats softball will host Kremlin and Drummond on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
The Southwest Interscholastic Meet will be held Thursday at Weatherford.
On Friday, there will be no school at Covington-Douglas. The FFA Agronomy team will travel to Wilburton for a Judging Contest. The high school Track Invitational Tournament will be held on the Covington-Douglas track.
Holy Week at St. John’s Lutheran Church will be observed with a Palm Sunday Service at 8:45 a.m. today. On Maundy Thursday, (March 28), a Seder meal will begin at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall. The service will continue in the sanctuary, with communion and stripping of the altar.
On Good Friday (March 29), a 7 p.m. Tenebrae service will be held. A Holy Saturday (March 30) Easter Vigil will be held beginning at 7 p.m. Easter Sunday worship with communion will begin at 8:45 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Covington 5th Sunday Sing will begin at 6 p.m. April 7 at First Baptist Church. Everyone is welcome.
